The Poor Can't Cook
|
Conservative peer Baroness Jenkin of Kennington has apologised after saying "poor people don't know how to cook". Lady Jenkin was speaking in Westminster at the release of a report into the rising use of food banks in Britain. The parliamentary inquiry - which she was part of - was set up to understand the extent and spread of hunger, food poverty and its causes.
Can you cook? My Chili Con Carne is legendary but then again I'm not poor.

Thing is though, democracy in all it various guises was always about gaining legitimacy to raise taxes and manage human and social capital on behalf of business and the social class engaged most in business activity. It was never about taking care of the poor or reducing wealth inequality as such. Over the years, and especially in the 19th and 20th century, the business class came to see it could manage its investment and reduce business risk more effectively by making sure it gained legitimacy to tax from as broad a base as possible, thereby securing at once political stability and greater fiscal revenue streams. It also became apparent that the broad working, voting mass of tax payers was very much an asset that needed to be maintained and could even be improved. Hence the states that began to develop institutions to administer welfare, state education, medical care, policing, housing and transport infrastructure development in the 19th century, like Britain, Germany, and partially France, Spain and Italy forged ahead at that time. However, this complex state building was never designed to satisfy the needs of the poor. What it has always been supposed to do was maintain the right social conditions required by business. I'm just saying this because it is an important gauge when judging the honesty and real intent of politicians and the messages they send to voters. So when they say they want to radically curtail the welfare state, introduce high inheritance taxes or get out of the EU, you know they are either talking crap or they are genuinely fighting the broad business classes and seeking to replace democracy with tyranny.

Nationalism is a trait of cultural conservatives, who can be left or right. The right as generally understood from an economic standpoint have always been internationalist, hence the belief amongst the left and general loons that globalisation is to blame for everything, facilitated by a global cartel of lizard people.

Cholo, why is nationalism viewed as being 'right wing'?
Was Lenin a nationalist? Yes.
Was Trotsky? Yes.
Mao?Yes.
Hugo Chavez? Yes.
Fidel Castro? Yes.
How did this end up being the distinguishing feature of "the far right"?
The far right is libertarian - and therefore not in the least bit nationalist.
It's a tortuous logic that puts Ayn Rand in the same political basket as Adolf Hitler.

Probably because of its staunch nationalism, which is viewed as a right wing trait.
Although Hitler was probably the worst of both left and right.

Because they were all about establishing and reinforcing a class system whereas the Bolsheviks we all about breaking one down.
In reality, their methods meant they had more in common with each other than they would have admitted.

If the Nazi party incorporated policies of the far Left, why does everyone - and I mean everyone - refer to them and their present day imitators as the 'far Right'?
I'm genuinely interested to know why because it baffles me.

The unfortunate thing about socialism is that it doesnt work.Capitalism is currently the only form of society that can generate wealth to provide for society. After all, look at our definition of poverty now.Massive strides have been made to help the less fortunate. Its a bit different to 1930.It is possible remember for people who have less than others to be greedy as well.

Socialism is an anti - nationalist, internationalist movement, Hitler was overtly nationalist, the term nationalist - socialist is an oxymoron. The nazi party incorporated policies from far left and far right but they could in no way be socialist for the reason given in the first sentence.

That is a video clip of a Nazi.
So by implication you think I am a violent anti-semite with delusions of racial superiority and pyschopathic tendencies.
The Nazis caused upwards of 50 million deaths and destroyed the lives of every person in Europe.
It isn't remotely funny or clever to call someone a Nazi. It demonstrates a lack of understanding on your part of the scale of the atrocities that took place under Hitler and the extent of human suffering he caused. It is deadly serious, not something you joke about.
You are no better than the infantile protesters who urinate on the memorials to our war dead and shout abuse at our troops when they return home from active duty. War, you simply don't get it, do you?

I agree.
I offer a country which will be the best place in the world to do business. A country of low taxes, light touch regulation and a commitment to personal liberty.
This will act as a magnet. Businesses will flock to the UK. They will build factories here, sales centres, R&D centres, distribution hubs, head offices. The flow of inward investment will create a surge in demand for workers. There will be jobs for everyone who wants to work.
